This was a big hurdle for Oboard.io - they knew they had awesome tools, but needed a way to educate their customers & partners on how to actually use the OKR system to drive real results.

Main Challenges: Launch Customer and Partner Training on OKR Methodology

Oboard.io faced a couple of major challenges when it came to education:

Challenge #1. Lack of OKR Knowledge Among Clients & Partners

Most of Oboard.io’s potential clients (managers, Scrum masters, C-level, etc.) had little to no experience with structured goal-setting frameworks, which led to hesitation in adopting OKRs. To ensure successful use of their products, Oboard.io needed to provide extensive education on what OKRs are, how to set them up, and how to apply the methodology within an organization.

Solution: Utilizing EducateMe Capabilities to Launch OKR Accelerator Training for Clients & Partners 

To bridge the knowledge gap, Oboard.io rolled out the OKR Accelerator Program. This 14-week, self-paced course was designed to guide strategic leaders through their first OKR cycle. 

The aim? To break down the OKR framework into bite-sized lessons that made it easy for clients and partners to understand and apply the methodology.

Thanks to EducateMe, Oboard.io could set up the course with interactive lessons that included:

  • 14 comprehensive lessons covering everything from the basics of OKR methodology to advanced topics like aligning OKRs across teams and tracking progress.
  • Live Q&A sessions with certified OKR coaches, giving clients access to expert advice throughout their learning journey.
  • Engaging assignments to reinforce what they learned, along with regular check-ins to ensure everyone was on the right track.
  • An OKR certification for those who completed the program, adding a little extra motivation for clients to dive in and fully engage with the material.

Challenge#2. Get Quick Feedback and Improve Courses Fast

The Oboard team needed a training platform that not only allowed users to learn, but also provided tools to capture real-time feedback. The goal was to make rapid adjustments and enhancements to the courses, ensuring learners had the best possible experience with OKRs.

One of the features that helped to make communication between Oboard.io and its learners super easy was a flexible feedback system within the EducateMe LMS. As our client rolled out the course, they quickly discovered that the initial video materials, created using an AI tutor, received mixed reviews. While the content was insightful, many participants found the AI's monotone delivery a bit hard to digest.

Challenge #3. Need for Quick Platform Customization 

As Oboard.io’s student base grew rapidly, it became clear that their manual process couldn’t keep up. They needed a platform that could quickly adapt to their existing workflow without disrupting their current operations, especially in handling new student data and communication efficiently.

EducateMe LMS stepped up with a swift solution, adding a Bulk email export feature within days, which seamlessly integrated into Oboard.io's workflow. This allowed them to maintain their process while transitioning to MailChimp for streamlined communication.

Challenge #4. Keeping Learners Engaged and On Track

One key challenge Oboard.io faced was ensuring that learners stayed engaged and up-to-date with their courses. They needed a system to send timely reminders and updates to keep everyone on track, especially with busy schedules.

EducateMe’s notification options were a game-changer. The platform sent out timely reminders about Q&A sessions and course updates, keeping everyone engaged. 

The Process: Getting Cohorts Rolling

Oboard.io kicked things off with both cohort-based & self-paced learning models that made it easy for groups to learn effective. Here’s how they rolled it out:

First Course Launch. The Oboard team started with a free course that lasted three months, releasing new topics every week. Each week, participants got to dive into pre-recorded video lessons. Some modules had quizzes and assignments, which made them more interactive but not too overwhelming.

Live Q&A Fun. To further support participants, Oboard.io hosted monthly live Q&A sessions. This was a chance for participants to ask questions and get immediate answers, making the experience feel more connected and engaging.

Switching to Self-Paced Learning. For the second cohort and other participants who now can join at any time, they switched to a self-paced model. Participants could binge-watch all the content at their own speed, which was great for busy schedules. They encouraged self-reflection after assignments, helping everyone think about how to apply what they learned.

Getting Certificates. One of the highlights was the automated certificate management system. Participants could earn their certificates after completing at least 80% of the course, providing an incentive for thorough engagement and mastery of the material.

Results: Improved OKR Knowledge and Adoption
